Second Vice-President

Vince DeFlavia

Second Vice-President’s 2009 Outlook:

-          In early 2009, I will be working to populate the MASITE website with valuable information for our members and any other visitors.  First, providing the Board and Committee member photos, contact information, and a description of their roles within the Section will be prominently displayed.  Second, the Events Calendar will be updated with planned events throughout the year in each of the Section Areas as well as District and International planned events.  A third key area to be highlighted on the website will be event pictures and brief descriptions about the meeting topic, speaker, and event turn-out.  In addition to these items, other items that will be entertained and expanded upon will be the following:  links to other professional organizations, agencies, and publications; displays of MASITE’s corporate sponsor logos with the ability to access each of their home websites; providing membership, scholarship, and project of the year applications; posting MASITE quarterly newsletters and Board meeting agendas; and providing areas for Student Chapter Activities as well as Awards and Recognition happenings.

-          The second challenge that I will be addressing are the Student Chapters.  For those that are chartered, have them become active and visible not only on their respective campuses but at local area meetings and Section annual meetings.  The key focus will be to key-in on each chapter’s faculty advisor.  If one is not identified, then one shall be sought.  If one has been established, seek their needs and try to implement them utilizing Section and District resources.

-          Certainly the last key area that I hope to keep strong is the yearly events calendar which contains the plan of each of our three Section areas – East, Central and West.  It is expected that each area will plan at least four events throughout the 2009 year.  These events include dinner meetings, breakfast sessions, lunchtime technical sessions, SimCap Initiatives and training, social events, joint meetings with other technical societies,  golf outings, and tours of local TMC’s or Construction sites.
